The Nightingale is an epic tale that takes place in France during World War II. Two sisters, Vianne and Isabelle watch as their small town is invaded by German soldiers. While Vianne decides to be complacent and fly under the radar, even when a soldier moves into her home, Isabelle joins the resistance and begins to fight in any way she can think of.
This story takes us straight through the war and we see the women change and grow accordingly. When the food is gone, we feel their hunger, and when their lives are at risk, the reader’s heart beats faster. These characters are real and blended with the history of the time, it all feels authentic.
I have yet to meet anyone who has not adored this book. Read it. You will not be disappointed.
